7-10 Nov. Verdi's Requiem is conducted by Manfred Honeck with the S. Cecilia orchestra and choir, Krassimira Stoyanova soprano, Luciana D'Intino mezzo-soprano, John Relyea bass and Giorgio Berrugi tenor. The Verdi Requiem, which was written in memory of Italy great novelist Alessandro Manzoni, and performed in Milan on the first anniversary of his death, is one the most frequently performed choral works. It is an almost obligatory rite of passage for all conductors and soloists.
