Madrid becomes the capital of flamenco for a week and plays host to the 13th Festival Caja Madrid these days the premier event on the flamenco calendar and easily the biggest in the Spanish capital. The Albniz Theater promises five intense days of live flamenco music and dance in a festival format. Each edition of the festivals pays tribute to a figure from the Flamenco world that has helped to turn Madrid into a world-class fortress of song, dance and musical virtuosity. This years featured artist is the bailaor Mayan Mario who will receive the Alcala Flamenco Award. Included among the main artists are Carmen Linares, Rancapino, Fernando Terremoto and Jose Menese with others like Israel Galvn and the Gito, Tomatito, Chano Domnguez and Dorantes on the program. Passion, fine performances and plenty of entertainment for the whole week. Tickets cost between 25 and 30.
