L'Archeologia
This large, elegant restaurant exudes old-world charm and is set amid gardens on the Appian Way just outside the city.
There are seven different seating areas inside and outside the venue, which can accommodate over 360 people, and its gardens are dominated by an ancient wisteria, said to be the first such plant imported to Europe.
The kitchen serves traditional Italian pasta as well as meat and fish dishes, while a visit to its well-stocked underground wine cellar is literally a step back in time.
Its antique atmosphere, ample space and professionalism make it popular with large groups such as weddings and corporate functions.
On the expensive side. Booking advised.
