Osteria dei Pontefici
Located a five-minute walk from the Vatican, this large elegant restaurant has been serving Roman cuisine for over 50 years.
Excellent antipasti, meat dishes and desserts, with good pizza and a small but tasty selection of pasta dishes.
Avoid the higher room which is often used by tour groups and instead opt for the front section where the locals sit.
Also of interest are the paintings of the more recent popes from whom the restaurant gets its name.
