Queen Makeda Grand Pub
Located on a quiet street in the Aventino area of Rome, Queen Makeda Grand Pub is a welcome addition to the capital's international culinary scene.
The newly-opened gastro pub is already drawing large crowds, attracted mainly by its range of 40 craft beers – with a rotating list of 15 always on tap – from Indian Pale Ale to Barley Wine to the pub's own Birra Makeda. The beer selection is extensive and includes bitter ales, saison, lager, stout, porter and pale ales.
Queen Makeda's food menu is also something of a novelty for Rome and the cuisine is designed to complement the beers. Dishes include Hungarian goulash, pancakes, sausages, roast potatoes, noodles, burgers, and crispy pork belly marinated in beer, while tapas are served on a Japanese-style kaiter conveyer belt, adding a modern touch to the large, trendy venue.
At weekends from midday to 15.30 there is a brunch menu serving an English roast complete with Yorkshire pudding, Eggs Benedict and English muffins.
Open daily 18.00-02.00, Sat-Sun also from 12.00-15.30.
